Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. Her current position is that of president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the National Basketball Association's controlling owners. Buss is the daughter of a California born and raised in an affluent family. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon, who was later the owner of the Lakers and other businesses related to sports. Her parents parted ways in 1972 which made her feel that she was emotionally neglected. When she was 19 years old, she became the General Manager of Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. She was president of the Great Western Forum, before becoming the Vice president for the Lakers. Buss was the inheritor of the Lakers from her father in 2013. Five siblings of hers were the inheritors through a family trust. In 2013, Buss took control of Los Angeles Lakers. Los Angeles Lakers.
