Winona-Ryder
Winona Laura Horowitz professionally known as Winona Ryder is a native of Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors and editors. Ryder's dad came from an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County in California when she was seven years aged. The town didn't even have electricity. Television books was her only source of entertainment to keep her busy and she started to become a keen reader. Ryder started to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 at the age of 13 years old. In 1986, she got her first role on the big screen in the film Lucas aged just 15 years old. Ryder was a victim of bullying in high school. The hope was that her acting career would end that. Sadly that didn't happen. Still she continued pursuing her dreams. The year 1988 saw her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles in various films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her role in The Age of Innocence (1993).
